Meeting Location & Tour Duration
Discover ancient Armenian wine making tradition in Areni wine region and explore Noravank monastery surrounded by red cliffs in 8 hours
Experience a day dedicated to exploring Southern Armenia, where the magic of Armenia’s finest medieval architecture intertwines with stunning landscapes. Our journey begins with a visit to Khor Virap, the most sacred pilgrimage destination in Armenia. Not only does it offer the best view of the biblical Mount Ararat, but it’s also where St. Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned for 13 years by King Tiridates III for preaching Christianity.
Our next destination is the Monastery of Noravank, an architectural gem nestled among brick-red cliffs, overlooking a deep gorge. Here, you’ll find a remarkable bas-relief depicting Father God with almond-shaped eyes looking far ahead.
We’ll then proceed to Areni village, known as the cradle of viticulture. Recently, the world’s oldest winery, dating back 6000 years, was discovered here! Enjoy a winery tour and wine tasting featuring approximately 11 varieties of wine, including pomegranate and cherry wines.
