Meeting Location & Tour Duration
A nice opportunity to discover some routes of the Great Silk Road in Armenia!
The Silk Road, or Silk Routes, is an extensive interconnected network of trade routes spanning the Asian continent, connecting East, South, and Western Asia with the Mediterranean world, including North Africa and Europe. It derives its name from the Chinese silk trade, which was a primary catalyst for its establishment. The Silk Road symbolizes an early example of political and cultural integration driven by inter-regional trade. During its peak, the Silk Road fostered an international culture, connecting diverse groups such as the Magyars, Armenians, and Chinese.
On the first day, we’ll explore Khor Virap Monastery, Areni Wine Town (offering wine tasting), Areni Caves, Noravank Monastery, and the impressive Khndzoresk swinging bridge. Day two is dedicated to Tatev Monastery, where we’ll experience the world’s longest aerial tram, followed by Karahunj, a prehistoric site known as the Armenian Stonehenge. The following day, we’ll visit Selim Pass, Sevan Lake, Sevanavank Monastery, and Noratus Medieval Cemetery. We’ll also stop at Mikaelyan’s Cheese Farm to sample cheese aged in wine and brandy.
